Tiger Toilet is a worm-based digester with a proprietary design involving layers of different materials, to create a sequential filtration system.

The Tiger Toilet is a vermifiltration-based sanitation solution that uses a specially produced species of earthworms to digest faecal solids. The entire product includes a strong superstructure, a traditional Indian toilet pan with a pour flush, and our Digester technology (patent pending) with specialized bio-media and drainage layers.

Upon flushing, the faecal waste enters the digester tank. It is first consumed by the earthworms, and then by other bacteria and fungi. This ensures that users do not experience bad smells or flies in and around their toilet.

The Tiger Toilet is easy to maintain if there is regular usage. It is maintained the same way as a regular toilet – through regular flushing and cleaning. Ash is a recommended cleaning agent for the toilet bowl. Waste build-up in the Digester is very slow. It does not need emptying for up to 10 years.

Once all the material reaches a user's doorstep, the toilet typically takes a day to be installed. Our expertly trained team takes care of the installation process. You can also install just the digester as a waste management solution and get the superstructure customised as per your needs.

Despite changes in weather and ambient temperature, the temperature in the digester stays stable and is suitable for the worms, enabling them to survive and thrive given a steady supply of waste to consume. Flush water/moisture is essential for the worms. A pour flush, when used properly, ensures they get enough water. A small air gap around the lid provides enough air for the worms to breathe.

Because it is a biological system, acid can be harmful and should not be used. Traditional methods such as ash are highly recommended.

The toilet has been tailored with a capacity for a typical household of six.

The faecal waste entering the digester is converted into solids and water. The solids are consumed and metabolised by the earthworms, bacteria and other microorganisms. The water is dispelled into the soil through specially designed holes in the digester. About 10-15% of the original mass remains in the digester as vermicast, which need not be emptied for up to 10 years.

The earthworms tolerate a wide range of temperature - as high as 41 C - without any adverse effect being observed. The flush water helps to regulate the temperature in the digester.

Most important. Moisture is essential for the worms. The water entering the digester during normal flushing is adequate to provide a suitable moisture content for the worms.

A temporary increase in use is fine and does not impact the toilet. It will lead to some waste accumulation in the digester, but the extra waste too is soon consumed and eliminated.
